I don’t stutter or fuck up my speech over a text.

YES I hate phone calls SO MUCH. If I had a nickel for every opportunity I missed out on because I had to make a phone call and I just froze up … well I wouldn’t be a millionaire but I’d probably have like $69 extra.
To me calling someone seems rude, because the caller demands immediate time from the callee and interrupt them in what they are doing, even if it is only about forcing them to make the decision of picking up, or ignoring the call.
While texting lets the receiver chose when they want to read their message just like the sender when they want to send it. Receivers can still read the message whenever they have some time without missing anything.
I agree. My worst issue at work is being in the middle of something when the phone rings because somebody has a question and doesn’t know how to use google.
Then I’m thrown off of whatever it was I was doing for like 15 minutes after the phone rings. I can’t ever seem to just get back into it. Often once I do the phone rings immediately and I have to start over. It’s infuriating.
I’m all about using the right medium and besides the social awkwardness phone calls are usually a pretty bad medium for information transfer. They are prone to miscommunication and since they are ephemeral a lot of memory related issues after the fact.
Text on the other hand: nice paper trail, easily searchable if you forget, no accent/interference based miscommunication, less constant attention required…Just better overall most of the time.
I used to. It was curable via exposure for me. Had to do it at work a lot and just got used to it.
I will literally let my life collapse around me before I make a phone call
Yeah, given the choice, I’d rather avoid the phone all together. Unless it’s close friends/family, I have to script what I’m going to say to get through it. I don’t have the same reaction to video calls, interesting enough…
I hate answering calls. I lost my concentration when doing something.
I still cant get any of my friends to realize that talking on the phone is LITERAL FUCKING HELL.
I can’t hear you cause I’m deaf, I can’t understand you cause I can’t see you, and I don’t know how to respond socially cause your not right in front of me. Also, just because I have a phone absolutely does not mean you get to hijack my time whenever you want, only I get to do that.
If you want something, just text. I’ll respond (maybe) when I can actually think of a response.
I typically avoid it like the plague. Texts are so much more elegant
If don’t know the person all that well I sweat, profusely. If it’s a long call my phone will be covered in sweat afterwards. Especially fun if I have sunscreen on… D:
I have to make about 5 - 7 phone calls for important shit in my life. I am actively suffering for not having made these calls. It’s getting worse.
All I can do is hope that I will wake up one day and I’ll feel okay enough to make one of the phone calls. It happens every once in a while, I swear.
Just have to wait…
They’re the freaking worst and I wish I could hire an assistant to make calls for me.
Yes, blue shirt has a problem with making phone calls, but yellow shirt also has a problem with not leaving blue shirt alone to hide in their little safety zone!
I’v shifted from preferring texting/email to literally only ever making phone calls. Fuck email. Fuck friday email bombardment.
