They could fix it by removing ads and making content people enjoy, but why would they do that now that the cat is out of the bag? They’ll just keep charging people $90/mo to watch ads until they are no longer making a profit.

making content isn’t enough anymore, all the content gets pushed out to streaming services because no one younger than millennials want to watch linear TV. Sports and 24 hour news are the only things keeping cable on life support. Sports because cable networks pay out the nose for exclusive rights, which they won’t be able to for much longer while bidding against streaming giants like Amazon. And 24 hour news because of the convenience factor to older people and businesses, which I think is also going to die out over time.

Hey. Most of us millenials don’t want to watch linear tv either. We can’t do that when we’re working 3 jobs to make rent.

Angry face but not too angry because I’m not actually angry.

My wife was the hardest battle since we are probably on the older side of people who use this site. I got her to drop cable, and in return, we got hulu live back when it was $40 a month. Within 3 years, it’s now $85, and without the add-ons and I said it has to go. Sat down and figured out everything she would watch, and although slightly more annoying to change channels, we just purchased subscriptions directly to the 3 channels she wanted and have the apps. So $85 is now like $20. I have to save money everywhere I can, cable is so pointless these days when everything offers easy cheap ways to watch just about anything.

Haha, I actually have that as well… I have been using Emby for about 8 years now and a NAS with 34tb worth of content. I do not like those streaming add ons for kodi so I won’t use that and I never setup any tv tuner either. It’s the only reason we still pay for some since she likes the local news and sports.
