Strategy Games@piefed.world•XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Review and Retrospective- Is It Worth It In 2025?English
4·10 hours agoI would say yes. I last played it 3-4 years ago and it was still great.
That being said, these days we have a lot more choice for games with turn-based tactics and a strong strategy component.

PieFed Meta@piefed.social•Votes are pointless if they can't be filteredEnglish
2·13 hours agoOP, just use this if voting is such an issue.
It really shouldn’t be though. Comment votes don’t really matter IMO (post votes are helpful though).

Citybuilders@sh.itjust.works•Solargene, a space colony-builder where you can expand on the planets and moons of the solar system (including space stations), with complex, modular building mechanics (with support for Z levels) relEnglish
2·20 hours agoThis looks really good. Feel like something beyond your run of the mill space colony builder. A complex building system in 3D (with both land colonies and space stations) and it also seems to have additional strategic layer.
Reminds of a cross between Planetbase and the old school Moon Tycoon. I think this could give Planetbase 2 a run for its money.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PC games hardware prices to go up even as market shrinks due to RAM costsEnglish

Citybuilders@sh.itjust.works•Earth of Oryn, a medieval city-builder, with construction gameplay/perspective inspired by Roller Coaster tycoon and a modular building construction system released in early access on SteamEnglish
1·2 days agoI actually backed the Kickstarter for this game. Looking forward to checking out. Love the modular building concept, they really should add Steam workshop/modding support. Just look at the selection of custom buildings in Parkitect; you have so many rides and every type of utility building in multiple styles.

Horror Games@piefed.world•Hellraiser: Revival has such sights to show you, but "most of them pretty visceral and gruesome"English
3·3 days agoUsually, you can find “no commentary” type playthroughs.
That’s what I prefer (unless I am watching a channel where I know I enjoy the commentary for Let’s Play series).

Tycoon Games@lemmy.world•From the devs of Minami Lane, their next game Milki Delivery is a cosy delivery gameEnglish
3·3 days agoI normally prefer complex and long economic strategy games (Transport Fever, Project Highrise), but I enjoyed Minami Lane. It was a good pick up and play experience.

Space Games@piefed.world•[Request] Space sim that includes managing the ship during long journeys?English
7·3 days agoThere are many games about managing spaceships (my personal favourite is Star Traders: Frontiers), but I’ve never heard of spaceship management games in a more isolated/long term environment.
This is an interesting concept, curious if this has been explored.

Fallout@lemmy.world•What build would you like to see me play through Fallout 1 with?English
3·4 days agoEnergy Weapons; sort of weird one. Early game can be really challenging, but as the game progresses, you become much more proficient (I guess this is true on some level of all builds).
I’ve actually never done a full run with a dumb build (just the intro part in FO2).
Agent_Karyo@piefed.worldtoFree and Open-Source Gaming@lemmy.world•Recommendations?English

Fallout@lemmy.world•Bethesda announces a new Fallout... reality showEnglish
1·5 days agoNah, people look for different things in RPGs.
Not to mention that IMO doesn’t really apply to some nerdy video game discussion.

I believe the Long War team are responsible for Terra Invicta, which honestly looks to be the real successor to the original X-com.
Looking forward to trying it out. I feel like it’s one of those games that you can keep playing forever (e.g. SimCity 4, Civ4/Civ5, StarCraft 2).
