  • You seem to ignore the fact that atoms on their own does not create a consciousness. Consciousness only appears when those atoms together forms the structures of cells, and those cells again form the structure of a brain. Each brain is a unique albeit temporary phenomenon, linked to the specific body it is part of. And even though the atoms that it is made out of may be exchanged, the structure of the brain which creates that consciousness remains the same (according to the biological growth and diminishing of it from birth to old age of course). So I don’t think your theories holds up.

It is a somewhat poetic thought that atoms which was used to form our bodies may go on being part of the physical entity of another living body, but the atoms themselves carry no consciousness. They can create new consciousness if they form another brain, but that would be a different consciousness in a physically distinct brain which would have nothing to do with whatever brain they may previously have been part of.

It is a natual bias of your consciousness which insists that it must be universal, because we experience the world entirely through it. The thought of our consciousness not existing can be a difficult one, and thus we want to believe that somehow it must be eternal and not just a tiny blip in an incomprehensibly vast world, but in reality it is inconsequential to the universe, and the universe will continue to exist without it.
