  • In either case, Republican or Democratic power grab, the voters of Kentucky are deprived of a meaningful say in who represents them.

Disagree. In both cases, KY residents get senate representation, and in both cases it’s fair. Only in the current situation, where McConnell is dead but not dead on paper, are the voters unrepresented.

It’s basically the movie Dogma, but the demon is McConnell.

  • I know nothing about palette shifting (other than how to spell it correctly), but if I’m not mistaken two things are happening in the original image.

    1. The ripples in the water effect is being created with palette shifting.
    2. The colors of everything, including the mountain and its reflection, are changing throughout the day (not present in the gif in this thread).

The fact that the artist can do both at the same time is, frankly, astounding.

  • Important distinction, the census counts the prisoners as residents of the county in which the prison sits. The prisoners are almost always already residents of the state. It’s called prison gerrymandering, and it unfairly advantages the county and districts in which the prisons lie, almost always rural and almost always to Republican advantage.

  • I mean, if responding to my comment about removing some people for “their own safety,” then sure, there are better places that prisons.

But really what I was saying is there are people who do and will continue to be violent toward others, and prisons probably are the right place for them.

But I’m in full agreement that the US incarcerates far far too many people that don’t fit into that description.
