0·2 years ago- You don’t have any imagination
- Why the hell are you attributing your claim to heroes specifically? What does that have to do with anything?
- Man have you not seen a lot of fiction. People react realistically in a ton of them all the time, including kids shows like Avatar: TLA and Steven Universe
- My novel has people reacting realistically the entire way through, and it’s a science fantasy
- Luke Skywalker acted realistically. He wanted to leave and join the fucking resistance like his friends. Just like a lot of real-life people would, especially the oppressed. Hell, how many people did 9/11 cause to join the military? Hell, how many people join the military without having suffered tragedy?

1·2 years agoHey look, there it is again in the one I’m at now. Hermoine to Potter: “What’s wrong with your hand?” Potter: “Nothing.” (This was the Dolores torture). Hermoine actually finds out, which is refreshing. “You’ve got to tell Dumbledore.” Harry: “No. Dumbledore’s got enough on his mind right now.” Freaking stupid, Harry.
This “is anything happening?” “No, nothing.” exchange with Potter is constant in this series.

1·2 years agoIf you purchased a fucking game and they take it away because you didn’t play it for X period of time, that is absolutely fucking illegal. Like, regardless of current practices, that is fucking illegal. You own what you buy, and everyone who says otherwise is just trying to scam you.
Don’t know why someone downvoted you.

01·2 years agoChill, it’s just Riley Freeman. We love him, but that n***a is stupid, man.

This just reminds me of those stupid fucking ads that said “I’m a Mac. And I’m a PC!” And idiots everywhere just assumed Macs weren’t PCs. People are friggin’ dumb.
Also Miracle Whip is not comparable to mayo. They’re not even close. Mayo is an oil that you can cook in. Miracle Whip is a salad dressing that burns in heat. They don’t even taste alike. Blame Kraft for their on-label bullshit.

Technology@lemmy.world•James Cameron on AI: "I warned you guys in 1984 and you didn't listen"English
1·3 years agoIt’s getting old telling people this, but… the AI that we have right now? Isn’t even really AI. It’s certainly not anything like in the movies. It’s just pattern-recognition algorithms. It doesn’t know or understand anything and it has no context. It can’t tell the difference between a truth and a lie, and it doesn’t know what a finger is. It just paints amalgamations of things it’s already seen, or throws together things that seem common to it— with no filter nor sense of “that can’t be correct”.
I’m not saying there’s nothing to be afraid of concerning today’s “AI”, but it’s not comparable to movie/book AI.
Edit: The replies annoy me. It’s just the same thing all over again— everything I said seems to have went right over most peoples’ heads. If you don’t know what today’s “AI” is, then please stop assuming about what it is. Your imagination is way more interesting than what we actually have right now. This is why we should have never called what we have now “AI” in the first place— same reason we should never have called things “black holes”. You take a misnomer and your imagination goes wild, and none of it is factual.

1·3 years agoYee, I did this first thing. And you’re right about how a lot of people don’t tag anything properly-- a battle we can never win.
“Suspicious”, yeah. “Immediately making assumptions and then effing someone over”, no. I wouldn’t have been dumb enough to not investigate. Hell, if it wasn’t them, it could make a great story. “Yeah, my dad named me Arnold Schwarzenegger. It’s hell, but it’s also kinda great?”
That’s not only stupid, that sounds fucking illegal.
God sometimes I really hate people. I’d ask how this lady is so freaking assumptive and stupid, but I remembered that she’s just being reactionary because she hates what he’s talking about.

1·3 years agoWhat is “CW” in this case? O:

Nobody ever explained anything more than the likes of “Voldemort’s back! You have to believe me!” If anyone actually gave account or explained anything at all, the good guys would have a lot more allies than they do. Hell, actually talking is how they convinced a bunch of people to let Harry teach them dark arts defense in Order of the Phoenix. It seems that actually talking is how every good event happens, and that not talking is how every bad event happens.
