Why would I run away from the ideas I believe in or try to silence them? That quote doesn’t even make any sense

politics @lemmy.world•Seven in 10 Americans say Trump tariffs have cost them more moneyEnglish
1·7 hours agoI think a fair amount of people have gone from having no idea at all to thinking something incorrect, though, namely “they’re a tax on other countries”.

politics @lemmy.world•Seven in 10 Americans say Trump tariffs have cost them more moneyEnglish
35·20 hours agoSo, another way to read that is that 3 out of 10 Americans still don’t know what a tariff is?
I see. There was an image earlier. Just not the link

Technology@lemmy.world•Viral anti-masturbation app exposed sensitive user dataEnglish
7·2 days agoMany Christians believe it is sinful, because generally they are uptight as hell about anything regarding sexuality.
They would just come up with some other stupid thing about why it doesn’t matter

5·2 days agoIt’s quite creepy and I can definitely picture these uptight evangelical Christian type people thinking it’s totally normal. So weird.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What differentiates Lemmy, Kbin, Mbin, and PieFed?English
23·4 days agoThey all do basically the same thing and can be connected through ActivityPub. However, they all have a totally different code base as they are separate projects, other than that Mbin is a fork of Kbin. As far as how it is being an admin or mod on any, I can’t speak from experience.

2·2 days agoI think she has been overexposed, and is unpopular, but who knows if that’s what Trump is responding to. Though if he’s gonna throw anyone under the bus, it would for sure be a woman or a non-white person. Looking forward to that happening to Patel, though they always manage to find someone even worse. And you’re right, I missed that he talked to an unnamed official. There could be a lot more to it that we don’t know about too.

41·8 days agoI’d like to think it was due to public opposition to her and the actions of ICE. The author does not really present any rationale to support that, however, only repeats the claim. To me, it seems more like what Trump always does with people he’s associated with. Few people last long in his administrations.

Off My Chest@lemmy.world•Dealing with rejection! Is alcohol a good thing or should i deal with it sober?English
2·9 days agoThat’s not really a solid way to meet people. It needs to be more natural. You should try to find situations where you can get to know girls, and they can be around you, get to know you and become comfortable, not make an artificial proposition. That sort of approach would strike me as very awkward. As far as alcohol, i do not really have any advice on that. I drink in every situation but don’t advise that for others.

Informatica (Italy e non Italy) @feddit.it•The big illusion is over: Artificial Intelligence is not replacing software developers
1·9 days agoI’m sure they’d love to try, though. It reminds me of the trend of offshore outsourcing, where executives were so excited that they might be able to replace their costly employees with something cheaper, so they could keep more money for shareholders and themselves. And you know, fuck their former employees. After a ton of investment and disruption while they experimented with offshore outsourcing, for the most part, as far as for programming anyway, they figured out that hiring a bunch of 19 year-old kids in India was not the same as having someone more lexperienced in the same country to it. There were all sorts of problems with interpreting specs, security, coordination across time zones, and so on. They backed away, but not before they’d fired tens of thousands of people and disrupted their lives. I can picture AI going the same way.

It makes it a fitting memorial for him.
