Fox News is upset that people keep sharing these JD Vance memes so we should probably stop
Shooting fish in a barrel doesn’t even begin to describe how predictable and manageable this entire war has been for the Kremlin. If anything, Moscow has been shocked how well it worked against USA society. They didn’t account for orange skin color being even more superficial than black / brown / white debate. People line up every day since Q4 2014 to meme and mock trees in the 5,000 simulacra forest, unable to see their nation deteriorate at the hands of superficiality itself. Fox News, entertainment amusement news, setting the society-wide bar so low for standard of behavior since Putin’s Birthday 1996.
“Everything in our background has prepared us to know and resist a prison when the gates begin to close around us . . . But what if there are no cries of anguish to be heard? Who is prepared to take arms against a sea of amusements? To whom do we complain, and when, and in what tone of voice, when serious discourse dissolves into giggles? What is the antidote to a culture’s being drained by laughter?” ― Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business, 1985
Sounds like Fox News: “The easy fix here is to just leave Reddit…”
Sounds like Elon Musk: “The easy fix here is to just leave Reddit…”
Sounds like Donald Trump: “The easy fix here is to just leave Reddit…”
Just don’t stand up to what is going on, let the Russian information warfare go unchallenged. Very popular reply on social media in 2025. Very easy, simple, Donald Trump solutions to USA problems.
I understand why Rupert Murdoch thinking and media systems are so popular with easy answers that wreck the USA, but I’m not sold on them just because Murdoch’s approaches are so incredibly popular. “There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” ― Isaac Asimov
Reddit died long ago. Move on with your life.
I get it. I fought back for years. It was futile, and I’m happier without it in my life.
I have found little on Lemmy that is better. It’s the entire USA, regardless of media platform. Since 2024, all the major newspapers (Washington, LA, NYT, etc), HDTV news platforms (even CNN), etc.
I’m not abandoning the United State of America to Kremlin “give up” messages. You see them on the front-page of Lemmy every few minutes if you look at new. Even personalized replies telling you to give up on Americans.
Just accept Elon Musk, etc. “move on”.
Or don’t. I’m not trying to have a deep conversation about it.
