I have a unique opportunity to add a node at the Tower LNB ring. However I’m struggling to source a Meshtastic gateway that meets the requirements I’v been given. Any help would be appreciated.
- Power will be provided over 48v POE ONLY
- Remote management is a must, consider both internet provided over ethernet and 4G/LTE as backup (fw updates)
- Maximum 5db gain antenna can be used positioned on the LNB ring facing N-NW, must not exceed 1400mm in length
- Must be tuned for exactly 915mhz (l’m thinking cavity filter) to help with Rx.
- Enclosure and antenna must be pole mounted
- Absolutely no wifi 2.4 or 5ghz
- 500CND budget I’d like a set it and forget it approach. ls it even worth it?
It’s expected to go live around 1PM today.
Aaand they’re live!
CNT1 and CNT2.
Pronounced cunt one and cunt two, I suppose.
Did this happen?? Cool. I want to get some gear set up out east
It did and then it didn’t. Blacksam_ and the node disappeared. Likely someone raised a problem with the node and made things difficult for him and it was taken out.
That said the mesh has grown a lot since then. You can talk across Toronto with max hops of 5-7.
I’ve been looking more in to reticulum, it seems like meshtastic is seeing more adoption and would be the way to go in that sense, but I’m looking more toward robust off grid communications. It’s a shame they can’t cooperate very well
