The site is ww4. 9animes.org. (No space in between) I have had no problem watching Animes for free on Firefox and having UBlock Origin (Which Google recently discontinued for Chrome) prevents any ads.

That being said, that was when I was using my home internet. I had no notifications of accessing copyrighted material or the like. I had no problems. What is the likelihood that say, the school would get red flags from me using that site? Could it still work while I am here living on Campus? Should I try to find a VPN? (I am a bit of a rookie with this kind of thing).

Conventionally, the threat of legal action is generally directed at entities that upload or host things. You may have heard of takedowns of YouTube videos or sites that host video uploads. It’s a much easier target practically speaking than trying to identify and then prove accusations against a far larger pool of individuals who visit a given website.

Whether your school can nab you for it might depend on whether it is able to detect where you’re going and/or what data you’re using, as well as how much it cares. I would estimate that most universities have far more important things to do than to try to police whether their students are watching anime in legally unauthorized ways. If you were to set up a server on campus that lets people around the world watch your anime, then that might be a far bigger problem – between the liability and the internet traffic it’d hog.

But simply watching stuff is probably too hairy to deal with. I bet unauthorized uploads of songs on YouTube, taken together, get somewhere over a billion plays every day. Once upon a time, IP companies’ response to this was to try to play whack-a-mole with taking down these uploads, but these days they usually prefer to cruise on the content ID system and simply take passive ad revenue from this stuff, from what I understand.

However, I cannot say anything with certainty, and on top of that, I am not a lawyer, and even if I were, this should not be taken as legal advice, given the number of uncertainties. Your school and/or the authorities in your area may choose to closely monitor your use of the internet, for example.

Get a VPN. Don’t use public wifi without a vpn. Using public wifi without a VPN is like having sex with random hookups without a condom.

Another alternative would be to download your anime of choice before hand and keep it on your device to watch. You could even store it on say google drive or something as they don’t pay much attention to the content of videos unless you upload them to youtube. If you need to you can pay the $30 a year and get the cheap premium package for 0.1TB Which isn’t that bad all things considered if you just use it to store files in transit.
