No, they are right. Chores are way more chill when you are choosing to do them instead of having to do them. Being a monk means you effectively are removed from capitlaism and the greater part of physical instrumentality as it relates to life. That’s a pretty good deal

Shoutout to the Sohei warrior monks, who stayed on their mountains and occasionally came out to completely fuck up everyone around them, including other warrior monasteries, and were ultimately so annoying that multiple rulers went on straight up extermination campaigns against them
