It’s when they shrink down the doctor so they are really tiny so they can examine you from the inside. Very expensive due to danger pay, if they take a wrong turn they can accidentally disolve themselves in stomach acid.
I have just learnt it is the American version of the term, so naturally it doesn’t make sense. I was hoping it would help distinguish “general practitioner” (GP/family doctor) with “general physician” (medical specialist) which are commonly confused, even until recently by myself.
wtf is ‘internal medicine’? Isn’t all medicine internal to some degree? Or is this a euphemism? Cos if so I missed the email.
