I was playing it yesterday with remastered graphics and getting constant stutters. Even lowering the graphics settings didn’t seem to help. Playing it with classic visuals the game didn’t seem to stutter.
Its strange because I can play all the other games in the MCC with no stuttering like this. I’m wondering if Halo 2 just has a critical mass of jank causing issues.
iirc it started happening in one Halo 2 update before MCC PC was released. If you just want to beat Halo 2 with new graphics and you play on Steam, use DXVK if you’re on Windows (99% sure anti-cheat has to be disabled, no achievements). Linux with Proton already uses DXVK so that is another option, and it works with anti cheat enabled.
as an aside, I wish you could install halo 1 and 2 via MCC without any of the anniversary shit. people are generally on board with the idea that 2a was done better than CEA, I don’t know why they made the elites look so bulbously and weird, or why they went for prerendered cutscenes.
You can’t easily separate the game files for h2 without breaking the campaign. At least you can delete the H2AMP (groundhog) folder without any bullshit.
