Never had it. Growing up, the only place I’d see it was on the grocery store shelf. My folks didn’t have it and when I’d stay anywhere else, they didn’t have it either. I figured it was more for the previous generation and would be really hurting if not gone by now.
Turns out it’s still here and even had a bit of a surge when WFH ramped up and people had time to prepare breakfast.
Have I been missing out? Anyone have a recipe I should try?


Had to do an internet search to understand what this is and as far as I can tell this is just porridge made from the wheat kernel (semolina)? It’s considered the less healthy porridge in my part of the world as it skips all the fiber and is often made into a whipped lingonberry dessert because the semolina whips up great.
There used to be a chocolate flavoured semolina in the 80s that was often made as a dessert too.
I really recommend trying the whipped version, it’s very good.
