I read once that Venezuela spends less on their military annually than Hollywood does on a single movie. Really love the victory laps the most powerful military nation in the world is doing over their ability to bully smaller nations they themselves impoverished.
You are absolutely correct. Also, the vile AmeriKKKan ruling class did this to provoke the doomer response you are referring to (not just in Venezuela, but around the world). Seriously, it’s easy to get into the habit of thinking of the US military as just a bloated grift that can no longer function under the weight of it’s own size and corruption but that doesn’t change that it’s still a machine of mass murder kept well oiled by the blood of the innocent
And yet, it has not accomplished any concrete goal so far in this instance. There are dual dangers here (not saying you’re doing it, just that the danger exists) of falling into the traps of “the military is bloated and can do nothing” OR “the military is omnipotent and cannot be resisted”.
