having teeth is a luxury apparently but i am finally able to make sure they do not crumble in front of my eyes (31 years old btw) i hate this fucking system dawg xok-og

  • I wasn’t able to afford a dentist until I was 35 and had to have a lot of work done which included getting 7 teeth pulled and braces. It’s gonna suck for a while but you’re gonna feel so happy once you have nice teeth. Congrats!

just insane how having teeth is very much a luxury

in the UK we have NHS dentists which is like a subsidised dental plan, you pay between 3 bands depending on the work. HOWEVER, you have to be registered as an NHS patient specifically. and funnily enough, there are literally not enough NHS patient slots to cover people who need it as they pay less - you almost always have to go private unless you miraculously find a dentist taking NHS patients (never happens)

  • I too finally got to go to a dentist when I became a uni student as an adult, the only place left in my country that has almost free dental care thanks to organizing. This benefit only includes higher ed students though.

Went about 20 years prior to that only occasionally affording some care for my luxury bones and the few times I had to go, the bills ended up unpaid, because feeding my kid was more important.

I had to have so much work done. There’s one more wisdom tooth yet to go and I need to get it done before my studies end.

also 31, one of my premolars cracked clean in half a few months back resulting in my first visit to a dentist in about 20 years lol.
none of the NHS dentists around me would even entertain the notion of an emergency appointment due to not being an existing patient so had to go private - did manage to find somewhere friendly and reasonably priced bean
