Hey FGC Lemmy, there doesn’t seem to be a lot going on here, but I would appreciate any input. I’m pretty new to fighting games, and with SF6 and Tekken 8 I want to start playing more competitively. I’ve been using a Dualshock controller and want to upgrade to a leverless controller before my muscle memory is too engrained. Do y’all have any recommendations for a leverless controller? I play on PS4 rn, but will probably switch over to PC pretty soon. I also don’t want to drop $300 on a Razer Kitsune lol. Thanks!

I really like the ones from SGFDevices https://sgfdevices.com. I bought mine back when it was 100 dollars. It seems to be cheaper now. For PS5 you’d need an extra adapter, though. They also sell that.

Maaan, I’m halfway sold on them already. Their response to the Hitbox situation was based too, and I’ve heard good things about them. Is it a comfortable size to use? That sale price of $60 is hard to refuse.

I have medium sized hands and it’s very comfortable for me. No trouble reaching any buttons or my hands hurting.

It’s just quite small. There’s no real place to put your wrist. I hover my wrist. Back when I bought it there are a lot of requests for an attachment to expand the whole thing and I know they were working on it but it was for after they moved to a bigger warehouse. That was back in October, iirc, so I’m sure they’ve moved now.

I’ve not kept up with any of it but it might be available now. I know they’re also very active and responsive on their Discord in case you have any questions.

I realize this isn’t quite the answer you’re looking for, but I’ve found that a modified DualShock controller feels quite ergonomic and easier (at least for me and friends that have tried it) to handle.

My main modification is rather simple, just basically cut off the thumb sticks and file the tops of the remaining hemispheres down smooth.

Seriously feels much easier to grip.

Just a thought from my gaming experiences.

Dude that’s genius! I’ve been gaming awhile and I’ve never heard of that modification. I rarely used the stick for movement because it’s hard for me to control as easily. There is an extra controller laying around, so I’ll give it a shot this weekend. I know at least several Street Fighter pros use a DualShock, so I probably shouldn’t give up on it too fast. Thanks for the thought!

Heads up that naturally due to the change in leverage of the thumb ‘balls’, it’ll make the analog controls more sensitive. But at the same time it puts much less stress on your thumb knuckles, and really does make the controller much more comfortable to grip.

Best of luck, and if you do try this mod, I hope to hear back and see what you think of the results.

The ones from Haute42 are nice and budget friendly! I got the Haute Mini because i like WASD style leverless and its great.

Though the tradeoff being for ps4 / ps5 it does require a passthrough device for authentication to the console, either a controller or one of those adapters.

Make one yourself. It’s not very difficult if you have some tools, and you’ll be able to make any customised layout with whatever buttons you want. I’ve made a bunch of them myself (check my post history and scroll all the way down).

In fact, my old home made hitbox is sitting unused in a box and I can sell that pretty cheap (if there’s interest in paying for delivery from England).
