Over the past few days, @MrKaplan@lemmy.world/@MrKaplan@piefed.world has banned multiple users, blocked entire comms, and now defederated from Anarchist.Nexus over their anti-Zionist stance.

This extreme overreaction and general power trippin’ bastard behavior stems from Lemmy.world’s history of pro-Zionist views. And now MrKaplan is seeking out the flimsiest pretext to to enact his own personal vendetta.

Free Palestine, Death to Israel, Death to Zionism.

    The Israeli government should be held accountable for the genocide it has willfully engaged in and associated acts of ethnic cleansing, but calling for the murder of zionists is not conducive to a productive discussion on the matter.

    Still, major instances defederating each other only hurts us by leaving the Threadiverse more fragmented, and should only be implemented in essential situations where not doing so would harm user retention, such as posts from Lemmygrad and Hexbear.

    In terms of instance choice, neither World nor anarchist.nexus were optimal as-is for new users seeking to maximize the visibility of their posts: Beehaw defederates World, while anarchist.nexus defederates feddit.org.

      Calling for the murder of Zionists is the only appropriate response, and the only way to stop their genocide.

      Downplaying their crimes as ‘ethnic cleansing’ and suggesting Nazis can be stopped by anything but acts of armed violence is not conductive to ending genocide.

        What Israel is doing in Gaza is genocide, while what they are doing in the West Bank is ethnic cleansing; specifics matter to avoid claims of genocide getting dismissed.

        Armed resistance against those engaging in genocide is one thing, but calling for the murder of Zionists implies the civilians of Israel as well; murdering civilians is a war crime regardless of the perpetrator or motivation.
