I think I subconsciously associate soup with bad things - like being sick, poor, etc, when in reality it really is so delicious.

Still never met a pumpkin soup I like though.

I was never given soup when I was sick, so it can’t be that. Sick food was always dry crackers and flat lemonade.

Pumpkin soup is often pretty yucky. I don’t mind it with a reasonable amount of curry in it, or the one I had today had a lot of chicken stock to give it flavour. Pumpkin on it’s own is just boring mush that is often a bit too sweet. It also had a fair few other vegetables in it, so it wasn’t just watered down pumpkin puree like a lot seem to be.

      like being sick

Me too. After making so many for ol’ girl over the last few years I’m skipping right past it if I’m ever out at a restaurant. Shame really because some of the ones I’ve when out years ago have been amazing. If the soup has solids that’s okay but if just pureed no can do :(
