Title. It seems to be across several instances, with search being especially unhelpful with topics I saw posted on .ml instances
Comments not properly federating
Do you mean federating in or out? Or is it just the notifications which appear late (we currently have problems with the notification processing)?
searches for topics recently mentioned on other instances not showing up, despite not being defederated
Can you give an example search and what you expect to be returned so that we can check what is happening?
Hi, thanks so much for quickly addressing my post, and also* your great work!
Or is it just the notifications which appear late (we currently have problems with the notification processing)?
That may be it, I’ve seen notifications appear, disappear, be delayed, then when I tapped, discovered they were posted a day or some hours earlier.
Searches were for news about Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, other African nations, Latin America.
To debug search could you provide me with a specific search string you used with the form, the first few results it returned and some results you expected to show up (for example by searching on a Lemmy instance and linking to the threads)?
My apologies, but I don’t really remember exact search strings, I was looking to see what USA and allies were up to, as far as war and statements about those regions. I just tried user names or a few keywords of post titles I recalled while scrolling on the fly when I didn’t really have time to rta/comment or both. I believe the instances were either .ml, .zip, and maybe a couple of others, but when I went to the original instances, found them again without much difficulty, if any.
If you run into this issue again, please add a comment with the details about the search here. Then I will try to debug it.
Also thanks for reporting it so far. You’re welcome, I will screenshot it next time. Thank you, as well.
I dm’d an example of improper federation (comments not federating). Sorry, it seems it’s going to be piecemeal.
I’ve sent a second DM.
