Opinion: Transgender athletes are the latest target in a broader political effort to decide who gets to be part of American public life.
Ask any transphobe pretending to care about women’s sports who their favorite female athlete is.
Ask them when was the last time they donated to or supported a women’s shelter.
They don’t care about women. Trans women are just an acceptable target for their misogyny.
I mean that’s what all prejudices are about. Women weren’t allowed to use public restrooms “for their safety” because men didn’t want them to be able to be outside the house for too long until “Women’s restrooms” were invented to “solve the problem” rather than just making public restrooms have more private stalls. Same with “colored” vs “white” restrooms. Same with all the other rights repressed people lose in the name of “safety” or “fairness”. There has never been a good reason to have gender based sports teams. It should be ability based leagues just like minor and major league baseball. Gender has little to do with it except that women were originally excluded because “sports are for men” was what men said until “women’s leagues/teams” were created.
