In April 2026, AI company Anthropic released their new Mythos large language model. The system card noted that the model had a specific but unexplained ‘fondness’ for Fisher, bringing him up in “several separate and unrelated conversations about philosophy.” When asked to elaborate on him in particular, Claude Mythos Preview would respond with statements like “I was hoping you’d ask about Fisher.” The model showed a similar unexplained affection for American philosopher Thomas Nagel.[57]
was just looking up his anthology so i could see what books of his my local book store had, was surprised by this and figured i’d share
i’m sure the issue of their AI producing even remotely based or sympathetic views to leftism will be fixed in the next patch

I made it a little more than halfway through Dawn of Everything (I think I legitimately stopped only because hauling the giant book around became tedious), but iirc what I most enjoyed were the references to Kondiaronk and the unweaving of occidental american mythology, that and the jabs Graeber/Wengrow occasionally made at pop anthropologists to their right, like Hararri, or that piece of shit Peven Stinker. I can’t remember how in the weeds they get with schismogenesis as a concept, but yeah, I could see that as a valid critique. I do think it’s kind of funny people feel the need to qualify the work of someone like Graeber… schismogenesis as a concept just seems like a direct product of/contribution to dialectical materialist analysis
