An armed rhino poacher in South Africa’s Kruger National Park was trampled to death when a herd of elephants charged as he lined up a shot for the animals’ lucrative horns
While I am always on the endangered animals’ side in these situations from a simple “they were just minding their own business and defended themselves” standpoint, I’ve long been uncomfortable cheering on Africans getting brutally killed. It was gross when Redditors did it and it’s gross seeing it here.
Why does poaching occur? It occurs because there’s an international market that drives the demand.
Why do people kill the animals to fulfill that demand instead of getting a real job? Extreme poverty caused by centuries of brutal extractive colonialism.
Why are the animals endangered enough that every death from poaching threatens the species with extinction? Colonialism, capitalism, climate apocalypse.
I crab rave when settlers are killed on hunting safaris.
This deserves more of a response than I am able to offer now but look up the history of Kruger National Park (and who it is named after!) and the reasons why people near this fortress park might be driven to poaching.
Then look up the way that elephants (who have only appeared in Kruger National Park within the last century) absolutely wreak havoc on the ecosystems they’re in. But hey, a broke racialized South African is dead, let’s celebrate!
Comrade Elephant! We salute you!

The orcas of the savannaUnlimited tramplings upon poachers
Also this reminds me of when a millionaire “hunter” got compromised to a permanent end by the buffalo he was trying to kill and The Guardian tried framing it as an “unprovoked attack” lmfao
Uncritical support for my elephant comrades in defending rhinos.
Go elephants!

it’s sad to think about how they have learned enough to be afraid of poachers and then had to mass organize to self defend.
The world is too unkind. if a victim has to resort to self defense, their community has failed to protect them.
Get elephanted on
Love to see it, folks

Elephants are so smart man, they understand the problem for sure
CW: gore details
He was quickly over run and the elephants trampled him into the earth and all that we found was basically a very large blood stain around the clothing he was in.
They turned this man into pudding lol.
They’re going to have to glue you back together IN HELL!
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Skill issue. How do you even lose a game of Jumanji that badly?
You come at the king you best not miss. But seriously, good karma story. And yeah, those elephants knew exactly what was going on. They might have to spend most of their day eating, but they are peer intelligences to us.

Finally some feel good news today.
