“people hate pacifism, the ones who want to bring about change by barrel of gun, how will they govern?” Like yea you fuck, like every govt since advent of class society hasn’t used violence to assert itself and as if state itself isn’t a violent institution which according every communist needs to be dissolved in the future

Liberals when they don’t pay their taxes or trespass or disobey traffic laws and don’t comply with the arresting officers and those officers use guns to enforce that compliance: shocked-pikachu

Yes they think they’re part of polite society, they aren’t in one of those ‘extreme times’, they aren’t in one of those ‘times of exception’ era, they’re in the polite and civilized era. Yea until they become lower than middle class.

Also, it comes from the belief that violence is justified against criminals or those who go against society’s rules. They can’t fathom society’s rules changing (human nature arguments and so on), so using violence to enforce the status quo: pacifism. On the other hand, violence used to enforce anything that isn’t being enforced right now: authoritarianism. It’s fukuyama thought every time

Besides, every single time the rules of society have slightly changed (for example desegregation), guess what: the state used violence (or the threat thereof) to enforce them. That’s why there are national guardsmen posted behind the black children first going into a white school. Because without the state’s violence backing the change up, nothing would’ve changed.
