From what I’ve read here in local media in Denmark, that part is what the rest of the world sees as a genious move.
It locks the USA in NATO when Trump has repeatedly spoken about leaving it.

I guess it’s only an issue because Trump has threatened to leave it.
Personally I wouldn’t mind Greenland becoming independent. I’d encourage it if that’s what they officially want.
