My favorite truck moved south about 5 years ago and I still haven’t emotionally recovered. Stay strong!
Would it have been better if the food truck was there but they turned into a microwave for bland Sysco food? Cause that happened to my favorite Chinese restaurant. I’d been eating there for over 30 years and it’s just crap now.
Ten years ago in college, there was this burrito place called Romo’s. For like $8 or $10 I could get a giant burrito smothered in a cheese sauce or this super tasty creamy sweet sauce. For a time, it was beautiful, at least once a week my buddy would walk into the frat house, look around for a moment, and utter that word; “Romo’s?”
Then, of course, Romo went into hiding to avoid some shady folks he owed money to, asked the cops not to reveal his location, and the whole thing fell apart. Now those burritos are but a memory. Every couple years though, I eat a burrito and catch a spot of that magic, look over at my friend that shared in those times, and ask “is this almost as good as Romo’s?” And they say “yeah, I was just thinking this reminded me of Romo’s, it’s not as good but it is really good.” For a moment, my mind wanders back to those days, and I am glad that I was able to live those experiences for a time.
I’m sorry that you lost your Romo’s, but you will never lose the time you had with it.
There was a little ramen shop near where I used to live. Third generation of ramen makers were running it.
I moved away and often dream of that place.
You should’ve opened that fortune cookie from six months ago. It warned you about this!
I walked to my favorite food truck last night and they didn’t have any fucking falafel. I almost cried
You had a good walk though. Well done.
Don’t you have a kitchen at home? Boil some rice, fry some chicken, throw a fistful of seasoning of different kinds and voila – food! A glass of alcohol will help too. Or two.
I’m not always home though… It’s nice to have good food in the city without worrying about meal prep
Just substitute rice and chicken with another glass of alcohol, duh! Cooking is easy.
I can only empathize. I’m about to drive 180 miles each way to get pizza from my favorite pizza place for the last 40 years. They’re closing up shop on Sunday after about 60 years of being in business.
