She only let me pass once I cracked a smile. It’s been well over a decade, but I still remember her face. It was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.
I got one spontaneous compliment from a stranger some years ago and I’m still savouring it. Gotta make it last, never know if/when there’ll be a next one.
