Well, doesn’t look like it’s going well. Had a lot of factors against it: poor franchise reception, horrid first trailer, looks like it targets an audience (kids) who don’t really care about Transformers. Limited and lackluster marketing in general, first trailer aside. Competition from another animated robot movie with a great trailer.
I’m glad we got this one nonetheless. Maybe they should give the franchise a break though.

It really is a shame, it deserved so much better. The director said they had plans to make Transformers One the first of a trilogy of animated Transformers films, so hopefully the sequels will happen.
It’ll probably make its money back in toy sales, though. That’s where the real money is.

Agreed, reminds me of D&D. Another Paramount movie. Like D&D, I think the excellent word of mouth could lead to better box office for a sequel.
I’m holding out hope it at least breaks even during the theatrical run. That plus toy sales might be enough?
