What is everyone’s thoughts on a hidden service for cafe? What is the status of implementing federation over the Tor network? Everything would run just the same, just over Tor and instead of lemmy.cafe, a Tor-only URL ending in .onion.
This is not the first time you’ve asked this very same thing nor had the same exact answer - no need to be smug about it.
Tell me what’s the difference between me not being able to say where you’re connecting from via tor vs me not being able to say where you’re connecting from to the hidden service.
None. I won’t waste our time going over this. No point either, Lemmy does not support it.
There is absolutely zero difference between fetching data via Tor but still getting the files from clearnet points instead of .onion points. You are 100% correct. Cheers.

Is this supported by Lemmy? 🤔
Lemmy itself is bound to its url. Shoving cafe fully into tor would simply break federation.
Having just a proxy in tor - honestly - don’t see the point. You can already access cafe via tor.
Have you ever been to an .onion URL before? I find it baffling that you don’t see the benefits of using a native hidden service…
Fully anonymous, nothing goes through clearnet. Yes, cafe is accessible through Tor, no, that is not a hidden service and will never be.
First couple sentences said everything I had to know. :)
