    The ‘official’ reason, as I recall reading it, is increasing security for players. Link to the announcement.

    Personally I think that’s a load of hooey.

    FWIW this won’t involve a new launcher, to my knowledge.

      Ah yes, the Sony ‘security’. Too bad then. I still remember the rootkits they installed with music cd’s. I’ve yet to buy anything Sony since then… Guess I’ll continue doing that.
