That’s almost like saying if they’re going to make a movie about a COD game they should take inspiration from Ghosts and not the OG modern warfare, because Ghosts sold better than OG Modern Warfare. If you’re going to make an adaptation you want what is the best quality, not what is the most popular. Popularity doesn’t necessarily mean quality. That said, I don’t care where the show leans, my expectations were already so low that simply getting it in the right ballpark was a win. But could’ve it been more true to the source material considering where it takes place? Absolutely.
