Toronto already has some of the worst traffic in the world, and with construction season here, delays will be even more “unacceptable.” What’s the solution?
Making public transit an attractive option to reduce the number of vehicles on the streets definitely helps in many scenarios.
I don’t work in construction, and don’t have any special knowledge therein. My observation has been that usually construction projects spanning more than a day are only worked on during business hours, unless it’s an emergency like power outage, but the infrastructure is always unusable (e.g., outside of business hours). I wonder, at least in select cases, wouldn’t it be better to have 2 or 3 shifts, work around the clock, and complete the job sooner and minimize dead-time
The only way to reduce traffic is to reduce the number of vehicles on the road. That is the ONLY way.
