My suggestions would be to either block Linkedin at firewall level, or to cave in but to plaster everywhere you can, including within Linkedin, their datahoarding/telescreen¹ attempt travestied as privacy. Or to block it and still plaster the situation everywhere.

Alternatively, intentionally loosen the precautions, at least at first, seeing how the system ticks. Then, when things start getting unstable, make a new clean install of the system and do it all over again, but with the previous issues already in mind so you can avoid them.

About adressing your fediverse concerns, I second the idea of curating your experience by blocking, subscribing, and manually looking the community list as needed. Furthermore, I’d also suggest keeping an eye on where the posts that cause you to be annoyed come from, since those not uncommonly come from the same places.

If my rate limit theory is correct, I think it’d depends on how many feeds you’re pulling. For a handful few, 100 minutes sounds in my experience. For 1000+, just refreshing might cause timeouts.
Might be an usage rate limit? Try to wait a little and also set Thunderbird to check a bit less frequent.

Old post, but if I may add to this point, many issues people may have with Linux are old problems or even behavioral quirks either too hard or too inoffensive to be dealt with. So a post made in 2024, by this tendency, could be well useful in 2034.

Also how spammy and intrusive the site is, specially on phone. Even with ad-blocking, still popups appear and take a good portion of the screen, and that robot icon keeps swaying in the corner, distracting the reader. Good thing Mbin has domain-blocking. =)
