I’m alive! Just super busy this week. I don’t have much to add other than this does help drive home how the USSR was enormously progressive, even if Strong’s language here is backwards.

Yea that remains a larger criticism with the book.

Roland Boer’s Socialism in Power is critically necessary for anyone wanting to understand the evolution and development of socialist democracy. An example of the weakening of functional democracy under Khrushchev in particular include a requirement of constant turnover in communist party membership over and above what would naturally be recalled by the working classes, resulting in an erosion of discipline in the communist party. This was a consequence of Khrushchev’s line that class struggle was over in the USSR.

This was a very good overview of the basic Soviet form of democracy! Not much to add to here other than the fact that the Kiev soviet had 50% women delegates, an enormously progressive change. The anecdotes and examples provided by Strong put the theory to practice, in actual fact rather than legalistic theory. This is again the strength of such a work!

I genuinely wonder how many are comrades trying to spoil the reactionary line for me, haha. It would make my job easier if people just pushed a communist line

Mega mega mega THREAD

They’re complaining louder these days but it seems like the lefty instances are the ones growing the most. Dialectics and whatnot.

People have to lie about what we actually say in order to get people to agree with them, because a peek behind the curtains reveals they are the unreasonable ones. All it does is drive people away from liberalism.

Fair, haha, but really I’m just an annoying person that tries to channel my annoying attributes into something semi-productive, that’s all!

I want physical copies of Roland Boer’s Socialism in Power and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics: A Guide for Foreigners, but despite being new prints both are well over 100 USD…

I’m very stubborn, nothing saintlike about it.

Sci-fi might be a fun comm!

Would be incredibly funny to see implemented well.

I think we reached the max comment depth there, lmao
Edit: I was wrong, it continues.

While I agree with all of your points, it’s pretty satisfying showing that even liberals don’t agree. I’m taking a Losurdo-style position, turning right-wing sources against their claims to prove that they go over and beyond even what the fascists agree upon.
A sunshine policy 2 would be nice, but the north will never give up their nukes. This gesture extends to where talks of denuclearization is unnecessary, and no further.
