Start cycling to work and you are prepared for the fuel shortages, while also reducing emissions in the here and now. Start a garden (or better yet, a communal one). Lately I’ve been getting into LoRa mesh radios for unregulated, distributed communication independent of any centralized infrastructure. Capitalism will continue to decay so you might want to have your own means of communicating and coordinating remotely.

Build communal resilience and do what you can to disengage yourself and your community from the fossil capitalist leviathan. It will die, try not to go down with it.

Sure but I still don’t get why they did that. Germans aren’t going around insisting that their country be called Deutchland in english as well. Or Spain => España. Or Sweden => Sverige. Or Finland => Suomi. There’s so many examples I could plug here. Languages have different names for countries, no need to throw a fit about it.

The current government is utterly shit. Right wing austerity by the capitalist’s party with the nationalist party doing what they want, sometimes to the point where it seems that we have two different governments (The Ceuta situation had two completely different reactions from them). The capitalist party PM doesn’t mind them as long as he gets to cut from the poor and give to the rich.

I think that the sparsely scattered but large trees contribute to that illusion. As if the devs were lazy and just threw some of the same asset around.

To continue on the nuclear analogy: Yes it resulted in bombs that can kill us all multiple times over, but nuclear energy isn’t completely neutral either. It encourages centralization of infrastructure and the dangers associated with it result in regulation by governments. Both of these shaped societies.

To reiterate: There’s nothing magically special about meat that would be impossible to recreate via other means. That also includes the taste. I don’t claim that something like this exists currently. I don’t own a cat and probably never will. My understanding is that the vast majority of cat food is already quite far from the look and feel of the actual meat that goes into it. I’m just saying that I don’t see a problem why artificial meat couldn’t be improved to meet the same standard.

As long as all the nutritional stuff is in there and the stuff can be digested by the cat, I can’t imagine a problem with it. The cat isn’t going to read the side of the packaging and get mad about a lack of real meat.

I think it’s about bootlickers who mistakenly associate themselves with the ultra rich who start crying when anyone suggests increasing taxes on the actually rich people.

I think it (I define conciousness here as the awareness and deliberate examination of one’s own mental processes) is a natural next step after the theory of mind, and a great evolutionary advantage for a social animal like ourselves as it allows us to selfregulate our responses.
