this shit is just so fucking lazy

can’t even be bothered to do more then a handful of AI gens

can’t even be bothered to get some intern to photoshop out the dreamlike reality distortions

obviously can’t be bothered to hire a digital artist to clean it up

and definitely can’t be bothered to have two interns put on toolbelts and borrow a wrench and pretend to do some plumbing work in the 2nd floor unisex bathroom (the one with the old sink) and take a few pics with their iphone

  • without clear vision or insight they are racing to make a few things come true: (1) somehow magically LLMs and data centers will replace x number of workers. (2) hunter-killer drones can be manufactured by distributed fully automated factories and controlled directly by them through a MAVEN type interface, elimating the need for human security forces. (3) and finally they can cull and soften us up in a controlled manner hopefully avoiding a nuclear war during the process (so pandemics, civil wars, pollution, climate deaths, starvation, genocides etc). they have to have all these things align perfectly. the model is that they will live in a distributed israel type network state and the rest of us, the entire world, will be one big Gaza

none of these techbros understand this isn’t possible but they think it’s the only way they can survive. it’s either this or we overthrow them. they over estimate how radicalized everyone is against them (they literally believe communists are everywhere, it’s not hyperbole, they actually believe we are legion).

  • the facebook mom i work with has shifted from right wing coded conspiracies (MAHA nonsense, antivax) to more left wing over the last year (network state, thiel, billionaire cabals, etc). i could probably easily get her to listen to TrueAnon but i’m waiting until Liz is back to actually pull that trigger. i’ve been working on explaining the difference between “conspiracy theories” and parapolitics to her, and she’s been receptive.

what’s funny is this woman is very collectivist at her core. she would make a great comrade and organizer if the brainworms could be dislodged. she lives and breathes mutual aid and builds connections with everyone in her community. then just pumps them full of every ridiculous antivax and sovcit conspiracy she has heard while getting food and resources to people who need it.

there is legit potential out there but the internet has really poisoned minds in ways that there is no simple antidote to.

  • i was torn for the 1st game. (haven’t got this one yet going to wait a few mos and play coop with my partner).

i love the idea of a pure science and exploration game. this is why i love things like kerbal space program and space engine. but the game wasn’t about that. it was a battle for personal survival and to potentially save others. the science and exploration element was a side thing, sort of like when playing Cyberpunk 2077 and buying cars/dating Judy/being a merc vs trying to deal with the relic.

so of course my character would try to make actual, lethal defenses if possible against highly aggressive creatures (especially those fucking warpers). so eventually i got the blue-green laser mod, which would make sense i think as a sort of “weaponized tool”. it wasn’t particularly powerful and was more a deterrent, but i went hard against the warpers since they weren’t actual native fauna.

so yeah, i think you should be able to at least have access to stun weapons/deterrents and i’m not sure if i like the idea that creatures are invincible. but then again i don’t know the plot to Subnautica 2 and don’t want to know yet

(also the first game teased you with a literal directed energy rifle sitting in an abandoned alien base and for some reason you just couldn’t grab it. like, come on)

  • my partner is an arachnopobe so it’s been a very long journey. childhood trauma through association so it’s tough to crack with exposure

meanwhile i had some ambient fear when young, but later i would feed ones in my yard and got in rock fights against neighboorhood kids trying to step on our semi-domesticated grass spider mega-webs.

not sure when it happened before or after but i had a dream that a spider goddess ambushed me in the dark woods by her children tangling me up and politely told me they wouldn’t hurt me if i didn’t hurt them so i guess i made some kind of deal

  • i remember reading some endless comment chain combined with an article studying it frame by frame to absolutely prove that the way he was grabbed was a special technique used only by the most elite CPC secret police forces, including analyzing body language, clothing, the direction, etc etc… all to support the whole “he was instantly disappeared or immediately executed off camera”.

honestly I am surprised that I never heard of or thought the tank ran him over. it was always just “a brave thing he did, standing up to the tank, showing how DESPERATE they were for america freedomburger” but then again the event occurred while I was alive and there was still sober reporting of it for my grandfather to discuss with me
