Running@lemmy.world•Adidas Is Winning the Marathon Super Shoe Arms Race
4·9 days agoYeah, definitely. But:
Sponsored athletes race in their sponsor’s shoes, and Adidas has signed a large share of the best marathoners in the world
I’d love to see a matchup of the same runner wearing the Adidas vs. the Nikes. Does one shave a few seconds over the other? Or is it just a matter of having the deeper bench?

1·10 days agoFigured it out in case anyone has the same issue. The button is in the upper right hand corner but isn’t visible in dark mode. Switching to light mode made it visible. Not sure if this is a bug.
Correct.
Locations are not causal. There is no causal link between rape and location.
I would imagine it’s when there’s a conversation happening that’s relevant to the question. In this case, the conversation is explicitly about what causes rape, so the question seems out of place and not in good faith.

Running@lemmy.world•Could A Greener Route Make The Same Run Feel Better?
3·13 days agoI’m definitely always more on guard running in cities, and there’s always a little stress in the back of my mind having to pay more attention to what other pedestrians, cyclists and drivers are doing.
Siempre los dos, but for me, at least, the running helps more immediately and is more readily available. The therapy is a longer term fix.
What makes this slop, aside from the fact that whoever created it used AI? Or is that literally the only thing?
* sad race entry fee noises *
Easier to document the nexus, for sure
You laugh, but they absolutely could mandate viewing by members of the military. Even those who are on leave or have a valid excuse could be made to watch the recording later. I’ve seen dumber (maybe?) orders come down.

fitness@hexbear.net•Full body dumbbell workout is this enough?English
5·18 days agoThe nice thing about being a beginner at lifting is you’ll see pretty good progress for at least the first 3 or 4 months even with the worst programming. I’d say this is a good way to start, but I would add pull ups and core work (leg lifts, planks, etc). If you’re a runner, you’ll probably also want more lower body (calf raises, squats). Adding a yoga day and cardio would also be beneficial as you get older. In 3 or 4 months, I’d re-assess and look at getting on a more efficient program (something like push/pull/legs on successive days).
Wow, that’s a lot of mileage for a marathon to me. Maybe not enough recovery? I’m used to a max of 80k a week for a 50k race
I’ve fallen into that trap. Maybe I’ll look into the time based approach
Sounds like a good place to be with a race in the distance before you hit a training block
The burnout at the end of a long training block is real. How are you feeling about 100 on that mileage? My longest has been 50 miles and did that on about 50 a week.

I don’t understand deciding to stop together. Is it a gesture of solidarity? Did they both just happen to hit their personal limit at the same time? I’ve never done the BYU format, can someone explain?
