I used to be super good at memorizing a lot of words super fast. Listening to recordings of Aus-Rotten and Rudimentary Peni cover sets i did way back. I learned pr got better at bass for both and memorized lyrics for each in 2 weeks. No way I could do that for bands with that many words per line now

After a really busy week in the kitchen, I am dreading the new remember shuffle episode cause it’s about Anthony Bourdain. I have nothing against the guy himself, I just DESPISE his influence on the industry. It gave cokehead line cooks and excuse to be pretentious, his travel show made a perversion with ‘authentic’ cuisines of whatever ethnicity to become the only fucking thing you can do and it’ll br based around your bosses idea of authenticity. I work at an italian place where the owner freaked out over someone making our soup of the week chilli cause we had beans to use up cause it’s ‘not Italian’ we have a Hawaiian pizza on the menu. While fusion cooking had gone a bit far by the 2000s the ethnic authenticity thing has gone far enough in the other direction that it’s gotta a bit racist tbh. I think Tony’s travel thing was about the only way to get genuine food from a foreign culture is to go there and see what theyre eating. It doesnt mean if you’re in america that only certain races are good at making certain food and that’s what the average cokehead line cook has taken from it, unless they make it, theyre the special white guy. What we need is unions, not romanticizing a dead end job where most people have substance abuse issues. He’s the Joe Rogan of food, I dont think he tried or wanted to be that, but the results are the same.

My work homie and I have a long running bit where we both pretend we’re good at chess and can play in our head so we’ll just say random chess pieces names and random letter and number combos and say stuff like ‘oh yes, the Varny-Salzberg flank. Friend of mine decided to Facebook post about her kid getting told to cover up his Kill Your Local Pedophile shirt on the first day of school. Like, yeah, that’s gonna happen. She’s an anarchist an believes her her kid can wear what he wants etc whichbi agree with, but yes, the shirt thst advocates vigilante murders isnt allowed at school. Apparently other kids have gotten away with worse shirts that say ‘I <3 milfs’ etc, which also shouldnt be allowed. Get the school on that, dont make a fuss when your kid’s cringe shirt gets censored for obvious reasons.

With the soft lighting and dramatic pauses and sometimes the camera work but they didnt go stagey enough there except for gags. They dont really get thst quite right but they almost manage to film like tos and tng did and if they tried it seriously it would make the show look better.
