What makes the “always evil species” trope crossed the line for me is that the demons arent just always evil, but also Frieren goes out of it way to show any demon that tries to be good is revealed to be good is revealed either as deception or they do want to coexist with humans but they are so inherently evil they still kill humans for no real benefit.

For the record I dont even mind something like skaven being pretty much Always Evil, like at least skaven brand of evil is more in the comical side so they are at least fun unlike say Goblins from Goblin Slayer and Demons from Frieren that only exist to be evil cuz le they are actually aliens who doesnt understand human morality so scary!!!
