Many fall in the face of chaos, but not this one, not today

geez or just plant like clover or oregano or something. There’s plenty of excellent options between shitty British grass and shitty plastic garbage
almost certainly not too much
however the wise and financially savvy toker takes a tolerance break at least once a year to reset tolerance and spend less $. A four week break every year means you’re spending way less to get the same effects
also the wise and financially savvy toker switches from combustion to edibles or dry herb vapes so they stop inhaling hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, benzene, formaldehyde, and other carcinogens with every hit. Each of those are cancerous which is no bueno. Who cares if it’s “better than cigarettes” it’s like saying stabbing yourself with a small knife is better than with a big knife. Also edibles and herb vapes are a lot more efficient so you’ll get a stronger effect for less $
It’s possible to design your devex to require an unreliable SAAS vendor for even basic tasks! If you try hard enough you can logjam your entire team!

I always try to cross the terrain that my competition won’t. To be fearful when they are greedy and greedy when they are fearful.
Right now tech has bad prospects and every other college student’s parents are saying the same thing as yours.
The truth is that LLMs are great for shallow, simple work that’s been done before. It’s dangerously imprecise so not wise to use for medical, banking, aerospace, finance, STEM. If X fails to load some feeds, who cares, but if a laser eye surgery machine isn’t 100% correct it’s not shipping.
So this isn’t advice, just a framework that guides my decisions. I’m planning to keep doing this career until retirement unless something else changes.

Wow this is so cool I’m really enjoying this artist
I have a very early series Dynavap, an Epic Vape E-Nano log heater, and a Volcano. I’ve used the Epic Vape E-Nano the most, then the Volcano, then the Dynavap. I rarely use anything outside the home, so the plug-in vapes get the most use. If my friends vaped I’m sure the Volcano would get more use.
I also use the E-Nano for heating essential oil for making the room smell nice. If I had to get one and didn’t care about mobility it would be the E-Nano. It’s warm and cozy to hold when my hands are cold. I like the wood look.
The thing about tolerance though is very real. You really need to reset your tolerance before switching to dry herb. I liked getting a lot of high cbd low thc flower so I had something to practice with while resetting. Don’t expect to get absolutely blasted first time out, you’re getting only a few mg of THC per chamber. If you’re used to +100mg from a bowl hit, this will feel a lot less powerful until you reset your tolerance.
The other thing I like about dry herb vaping is using it while it tastes good but stopping before the burnt popcorn stage, and using the vaped flower to make butter. So I’ll get maybe 6 hits on a chamber, then make some pretty strong butter with the same flower.
Between the two this feels like the best of both worlds. I’ll sometimes take a butter pat and then vape a bit to ease it in, saving the vaped flower in a jar to make more butter.

In the USA the big cities are fully paid, the suburban areas are a combination, and the rural areas are fully volunteer. I’m in a combination department, where the paid staff handle most of the medical calls and both respond to fire calls. The biggest issue with growing income inequality is folks just don’t have as much free time to volunteer so it’s hard to get enough members to fully staff an apparatus. That means paid staff but those are expensive and require a lot of logistics to maintain.

I started out thinking firefighters should all just be paid and it’s unreasonable to expect folks to volunteer. I’ve come back around and think it should be “volunteer or pay”. We obviously need the money for expensive gear and apparatus maintenance. Also it’s helpful to not have to get out of bed in the middle of the night when tomorrow is a work night
On the other hand, I think it’s extremely beneficial to have the resilience of a lot of skilled firefighters in the community. When there’s a big call you want as many people as quickly as possible. I also think it helps with PTSD to be able to just take time off from calls without losing your job. So I think there should be a lot more volunteers and an easier path to getting enough skills to become a volunteer.
I consider doom scrolling to be an unhealthy way to consume news and an ineffective tool for political change. Protests, strikes, and voting change politics. There is little to be gained by algorithmically filling my body with cortisol and adrenaline.
My head is not in the sand because I read apnews and reuters periodically.
I prefer for lemmy to be an enjoyable place to visit. If it was an endless feed of doom I would uninstall and read a book instead.
Every time I see a politics news or comic or meme I block that community. It’s great my entire feed is fun stuff and cool art

play stupid games win stupid prizes
what are you most excited about this year

From one chaotic to another, may you be blessed with a peaceful soul and find a deep and healing rest

Thanks. I love Blue Prince so much! The Great Alzara takes the cake for the creepiest toy I’ve seen in a game, so I had to draw him for Inktober

with the dropping of the coin…

that’s cool I’ll have to check it out
I don’t remember, I’d just put some raw bacon in there on a rack and eat when it was cooked and smokey
You are correct good thinking
