There was a guy in Toronto at the start of the 19th century. He was so rich he thought he was royalty. He built a huge castle and everything (Casa Loma) and then he had his industries expropriated (hydro electricity, which was taken to form Ontario Hydro) and he went broke and spent the rest of his days living in his chauffeur’s house. I hope for something similar for Musk, but he’ll have to live in a “self driving” car

13·1 day agoYou can do what you want, I don’t mind, but seriously, Space Balls is Mel Brooks at his laziest and it does not stand as a work of cinema.
- and I challenge you to watch it again and defend its virtues.

3·1 day agoWell, the quote I butchered was meant to denigrate HOA’s and say that municipalities were indeed a form of governance whereas HOA’s are a form of tyranny. So I’m not sure what point your making, but high five!

32·1 day agoBut that’s a real movie! It’s not just a Mad Libs of Star Trek! It has a plot and character development and all that!
Oh what, I forgot, Space Balls has a character named Barf!!! Lol! And he’s a DOG!

620·1 day agoI just think everyone should be prepared when this movie is an absolute piece of shit. I remember the hype for the first one, and it totally tanked. It’s really only a classic because you watched it when you were young. “We ain’t found shit” and the dick jokes were the funniest part of the original.
Don’t just downvote me, go watch it again*. It’s barely a Mad Magazine parody of Star Wars. And if you love it and think it’s hilarious then I bet you spend hours quoting Monty Python at parties while the rest of the party rolls their eyes.
*And then go watch Blazing Saddles because that is some hilarious Mel Brookes
And here I always thought it was spelt umlaut

15·2 days agoSo they aren’t a proto-city like an unassumed municipality, they are like a posto-city where late stage capitalism goes to retire and find a new revenu stream.

19·2 days agoJudging by another guys post, HOA’s are way of offloading a whole new tax structure on individual neighborhoods. The whole being racist thing is how they convinced everyone to pay it.

392·2 days agoI’ve recently just understood what a HOA is. As a Canadian I thought they were “Unincorporated Municipalities” or there’s also “Rate Payers Associations” which is like a proto-town where there’s a group providing town-like services amongst themselves. Which to me is some sick ass anarchist shit. But an HOA is just letting your neigbours tell you what to do? That’s lame.

12·5 days agoUsually you’d start that joke with ‘what do x and y have in common…’
Starting with what’s the difference works when there’s a difference. Like this, ‘What’s the difference between a woman in a confessional and a woman in a bathtub? One has hope in her soul.’

I’d say this is sarcasm, but I live in a rural area and have heard it calls ‘driving beer’ before. And looking in the ditches, it appears to be true.

I do.
