I don’t really like that the UCP has used every government resource available to them to produce propaganda about the referendum, bringing forth a referendum question after the petition for the question was rejected by the legal system, and further gaming the question with confounding language and a three option answer with two answers ostensibly on the same side of the issue (opposing “leave”) to split opposition.

Alberta is a province of the haves. It’s got a great economy and great paying jobs for medium and low education needed for entry.

The whinging about being in a great situation and having the priviledge of providing a bare pittance of help to our fellow canadians, or foreigners who’d love to join us in our high seat, is unbelievable.

I sometimes think that violence is seen as the easier answer. It is short term thinking, a big risk for an immediate possible reward versus a brutally long marathon of effort needed to enact real change non-violently. Statistically the long slog is the correct choice though.

Get up when you fail and try again. Learn and live a long time. And other words of motivation that are written on white ladies kitchen walls.

And then ones that fuse is lit, pumping the news cycle full of anger and terror driving them away from animal products for the next 3 decades or so.

As a potential airport user, I’m not too pumped up about the airport investment stuff as I would anticipate greater expense and worse service, but what I would guess is the reasoning there is that Carney is looking for a relatively stable domestic location that is big enough for the Canadian pension funds to store a bunch of dough - and there will be some dealings with unsavoury sorts to make that a reality.

Yes, I would think for everyone to be vegan or even vegetarian it would need an enlightened society with so much available excess that no one is left at the fringes, or such a small population living in the desolate ruin of the world where humans are the only meat remaining.

If I were the boss here the first one would be to let people know this is the new normal, but I probably wouldn’t fire anyone or do much shuffling as a result of the first round, but otherwise conduct the process very seriously. Well they had to be able to credibly threaten that they could build a windfarm, so that’s probably worth a few hundred grand to a some amount of millions depending on where they got to in the process.

I wonder if they’d like to sell the land rights they’d have lined up to someone else who might like to not do a wind farm.

If the government wanted the people to have it they could have stipulated that or, better yet, given it directly to the people. You need a complicit government for ‘privatized profit; socialized loses’

Being financial able to contribute is required to validate an opinion. Just like only the wealthy should vote.

Our immigrants also seem to dislike immigrants… Nothing like pulling the ladder up after yourself.

Even the smaller cities have good people in them, but they mostly have these rural-urban mixed ridings to make them appear to ride or die conservative.

I think that alternate mapping that was recently proposed had a ton of them.
