Security clearance is required. We can still allow politicians to put their names on the ballot even if they fail security clearance, but they need to go through it because I, as a voter, want to know who has the “kompromat” for any particular politicians, whose pockets are the politicians are holing up in.

I worry about this: https://www.dhs.gov/real-id but from the website, it seems that many states id/driver licenses are “REAL ID compliant” and you only need it if you fly domestically or wanting to access “certain federal facilities”.

This. I personally have no plan going to usa now and in the future. Unfortunately some Canadians may still have to go for work related trips. Just be aware that you may or may not need to register in the new “Alien Registration Requirement”.
My checked luggage used to be searched when I went to usa. I knew it was searched because tsa would leave a pamphlet inside my luggage saying that it was searched. I believe they have stopped leaving such pamphlet but I won’t be surprised if they still search luggages.

Labours are not expensive. CEOs are expensive and frankly, not worth their pay. Let’s cap CEOs’ salary to say max 10X average salary of employees. For example: average employee in that company earns $70K a year. CEOs’ salary will then be capped at $700K a year. We should also give equal percentage raises, ie. CEOs want 10% raise? Then all employees will also have 10% raise.
How about building connections/community? Getting to know your neighbours? I know this is not easy as I am an introvert and believe me, I struggle with this but I have made it my goal to get to know my neighbours better this year. If/when the really hard times come, neighbours may become our lifeline and vice versa. I would also like to suggest we show more support for local community programs such as libraries and food banks, or perhaps consider volunteering? Perhaps through a provincial volunteer program such as Ontario Corps?

Yes NIMBYISM of the rich. They want all the profit, don’t care about destroying the environment for profit, don’t care about polluting the air, the water, the soil through their fossil fuels extraction, as long as we don’t ruin their views. Tax the rich.
We need to re-learn the real cost of goods and not depending on China or other low cost third world countries. We need to re-learn the idea that “less is more” in terms of consumerism. Purchase a good quality, fairly priced item and use it for as long as possible, instead of dozens of cheaply made “stuffs” from low cost countries via Amazon platform.

I bought an aluminum downspout recently from Home Hardware. Unfortunately the worker there couldn’t tell me where it was made. There was no manufacturer/brand label on it whatsoever. Just plain label showing material (aluminum) and measurements. I checked Canadian Tire, same type of product (they just didn’t have the size I need) and labelling.
Until I feel that usa can be trusted to be an ally and not an invader, I’m going to continue boycotting usa, tariff or no tariff. Unfortunately, once the trust is broken, it’s hard to repair.
