I recently tried to compare data on morbid obesity, but most countries don’t even have a rate, or only include the data as a sub- 1% share of the obesity.
And the US it’s 9.5%
As in, 30% of the US has a BMI between 30 and 40, and 10% is over 40.
Z values are measurement of how many standard deviations something is from the mean. 95% of your values fall between -2 and +2. Most “interesting cases” are about outliers, something that’s very uncommon. If it’s common, you don’t tend to write a paper about it. Nobody cares if someone had a slightly above average tumor, but if they have 50kg tumor, that’s publishable.
The survivorship bias plane shows a world war 2 chart of where the bullet holes were on planes. The conclusion famously isn’t to armor those parts often hit, but to armor the parts that weren’t hit, because no planes hit there returned to be recorded.
It’s almost as big as the Xbox360. We can reuse all the all the old memes

Well no, I wouldn’t have it in me to send anyone to Birmingham.
Not having kids also saves a lot of money.
Gay men are after all famous for being frugal in their clothing styles.
To be fair, a hundred pages wouldn’t fit in the margins

The signs were placed by the Dutch. The signs were removed by order of the US government.

14·5 days agoI used to work 300 hr months for years.
I had one of those, and then decided that if being self-employed was this, I’d rather live under a bridge.
Can’t have a written record of being a coward.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone have experience cutting their own hair? Should I cut my own hair?
3·6 days agoI learned that I can do a great anime-protagonist haircut, but now that I’m not in my early 20s anymore that’s not really my style anymore.
On the other end of the spectrum, if you just trim the tips off of your perpetual ponytail/braid, that’s easy too.
Everything in between needs practice, and ideally the ability to look at the back of your head.
If the potatoes are still inside, other options exist too
It looks like a square, with two straps holding it in place
Also, women aren’t actually rare, large companies have warehouses full of women to artificially inflate the price
Is it? I’m a cis woman who paid good money not to be able to give birth.
(Edit: technically I can still give birth I guess, just made sure it won’t happen without a lot of pre-work in a lab.
How about we stop posting AI slop?

Actual AI development has been held back a decade at least with all the bullshit spending on LLMs, and once the bubble pops hard it’ll be a huge effort to get any more into real AI development again.
