We’re both here on Lemmy so it’s safe to assume we’re both doing our best, but I’m willing to bet all my money that you are not sourcing all of your tech needs from ethical companies or the open source community. You probably use an Apple or Google made phone, your work might lock you into Microsoft operating systems, the list goes on. It’s not wrong for people to demand better solutions from companies that have managed to establish a monopoly and who use their vast resources to maintain that monopoly.

While technically correct, it’s a slightly shallow analysis. It’s like people complaining that companies put chemicals in the food, you could grow all of your your own food but it’s probably not feasible.

My two cents on the matter is that LLMs are incredibly useful, but I would never use it to that end. I never ask about facts or use it as a search engine. Sure, use it as a springboard if you don’t know where to start or what to search for, or maybe to find the right link to a website. But directly relying on it for information is risky, whatever the model. Maybe this is the reason our experiences seem to differ.

I see, that’s about the time they all got so good that I stopped trying to keep up with the latest benchmarks. It works perfectly for my needs so I definitely wouldn’t dismiss it for anyone wanting to switch to a European alternative.

I’m curious as to why you say that? I use Le Chat and to me it feels exactly like ChatGPT or Claude, it can code well, translate, search online, everything.

Jag tror, deppigt nog, att en utav de största fördelarna de centraliserade alternativen har är den ändlösa strömmen av roliga videos och memes. Jag ser memes lite då och då på Lemmy men det kan verkligen inte tävla med instagrams reels eller tiktokflödet. Jag sitter såklart inte på lösningen, kanske ska vi stjäla mer?
