It’s not, at all. Like I said, not really an issue. It’s mostly that your joke reminded me of the situation than anything else

You joke, but people overusing the free Healthcare is a problem.
I have a few friends/family working on both social security and state hospitals (the free healthcare mentioned in the article). There are a lot of users who are not sick and still go religiously to get appointments or try to hoard medicine. It’s not a huge issue in the big picture but they do end up taking the limited time and resources from people who actually need it at the time.
The staff at the hospital knows them but they get the same attention as everyone, in case it is actually real this time.
It is not part of your negotiations with your employer. You get health insurance through IMSS (social security) by law. It is not optional and the service is not tied to your salary. You can make millions, or minimum wage, your IMSS coverage would be the same.
We’ve had another coverage called “seguro popular”, this has been free and not tied to employment since early 2000s. It was revamped and gutted by the previous president. The only requirement to get coverage was to not have coverage by IMSS. So, employed, you get IMSS. Unemployed, you got seguro popular.
So it is an empty gesture
I’m way overthinking this. To me, it sounds like someone proposed to move to a cheaper location. Some other manager asked for this to “prove” this improves morale and the river view office should be kept Who knows

2·7 months agoIn Mexico gas is 26mxn per liter for regular and 30mxn for premium. That’s like 5.60 per gallon of regular and 6.40 for premium, this with insanely lower income than in the US. I really don’t get why they are so outraged, gas is still cheap there

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Dell seems to be the first to realise we don't actually care about AI PCs
321·9 months agoNot just shareholders. We’ve had several employees asking how is our company leveraging AI, or why he haven’t implemented AI into our products. We don’t sell anything even closely related to tech. Hell, our product doesn’t even use electricity. It’s insane

World News@lemmy.world•Italy now recognizes the crime of femicide and punishes it with life in prisonEnglish
50·11 months agoIt does get misused in that exact way sometimes. I’m from Mexico, these cases have been making big headlines here for a while now, some prosecutors are misclassifying cases as femicide to grab attention to their political careers.
Local one a couple of years ago where a dude ran over a woman. Local prosecutor was pushing for femicide, fortunately it was moved to manslaughter as it should have been from the start. Not everything constitutes a hate crime and cases like that (in my opinion at least) would make the distinction meaningless

politics @lemmy.world•Republicans sound alarm over Latino vote: ‘This is our wake-up call’
7·11 months agoActually surprised is that high. Latinos tend to be hyper religious and homophobics to an almost comical degree.
They’ll fucking starve if it means a woman can’t get an abortion and transsexuals dont get gender affirming care. And They’ll do it gladly to protect “family values”

7·1 year agoI’m not from the US so I’m not seeing any of the repercussions first hand (yet…).
It’s so surreal to be honest. We were always sold the image of a USA where everyone was well off.
Not trying to say I don’t understand. I fully get what’s happening, that it’s fucked up and people are suffering. It’s just like watching an illusion break apart.

Indeed. I was bullied in elementary school. Became a bully in high school when I moved out to another state and I also got bigger than the average.
Been working through it in therapy for a few years, it was mostly out of fear. I’d be the big bad bully before someone did it to me, not an excuse since I did hurt people and that’s on me. But it is a common thing

Yeah, it probably would be pills of some kind to me. Honestly the only thing stopping me is that I somehow fuck it up and end up trapped in my own body.
Would be happily retired otherwise
One model works with phones, haven’t tried that one though.
Yeah except the testing. I fixed the hvac and tried to do adaptations, had to pay for a full year subscription again.
I guess it depends on how much you mess around with your car.
Not for that, no. Reading codes from all modules and all live data monitoring are free. You should be fine without a subscription
I have OBDeleven and have used VCDS a couple of times.
OBDeleven does give detailed diagnostics but any coding, testing or adaptations are locked behind a not so cheap subscription.
I honestly regret buying it, much rather pay a bit more for vcds and not have to do the subscription thing

Halo all over again
