For gaming on Linux the only major release I can think of that I feel like I’m missing out on running exclusively Linux on my PC is Marathon, and that’s not a Linux/WINE problem but that Bungie hates FOSS and people who use it. The new Resident Evil, Toxic Commando, Nioh 3, even MH all run as expected on my hardware.

Assuming we can get RAM and video cards in a couple years, Anti-cheat will be the next big hurdle for Linux, and I dunno if multiplayer is worth whatever that solution looks like if it’s giving kernel level access to a game studio and their publisher that have no business with that kind of access.

Google is a terrible company and has countless crimes to pay for, don’t need to manufacture anything else or scare people needlessly.

If you had a negative reaction to the idea though, you should probably still switch email providers. As others are saying, it’s just a matter of time before Google does get more aggressive pushing AI, abusing your data, and drowning you in more shit.

What do you mean you dont like us moving the search bar thats been at the top of the screen for over a decade to the bottom because we felt like it? Most cases in my experience is partly because STEM study is divorced from study of Humanities. Wanna know how many STEM students were in my 300s Eng Lit class where we had analysis on Neuromancer and how fucked that all was? ZERO. It was the same people from all my other Humanities courses.

It seems like the rules clearly stated no AI could be used to be considered for any awards for this contest. Sandfall could have withdrawn, they’ve won enough other awards, and it probably wouldn’t be a big deal. But Sandfall instead proceeded through the nomination process, and only had the award stripped from them when it was discovered they were lying about not using AI.

Setting aside the fact that AI is a tool of capital to oppress and steal from labor, not disclosing the use of AI to win an indie award is tacky. The dishonesty to win a low-stakes award is why this is a bigger deal. Especially with the nepotism, budget and capital behind Sandfall vs. the much smaller studios that were in contention this year and created art, by hand, that deserves to be celebrated.
