We have a lot of nightmare scenarios in the future: Trump wins, Trump loses and we get insurrection part II, Biden wins and we don’t take the house and keep the Senate, and we have at least 2 more years of gridlock while our lives continue to get shittier, etc etc.

The true tragedy is that there isn’t even a good outcome in the mix. Biden wins and Democrats take Congress. Fine, will they fix the courts? Fix student loans? Will they even try for universal healthcare? Universal Basic Income? Anything even close to meeting the moment?

So depressing.

Anyway, vote Biden so at least we don’t wind up in a fascist dictatorship.

Israel’s right-wing government is becoming anti-democratic, and their position on settlements is antagonistic.

But Hamas is pro-genocide, happily murders Jewish children, and use their own children as meat shields.

It bothers me that people equate these two.

Well, the DNC absolutely kneecapped Bernie when he was running against Hillary. I mean, we literally have the emails to prove it.

Against Biden, the issue wasn’t the DNC as much as it was Elizabeth Warren refusing to consolidate the liberals behind Bernie as the moderates consolidated behind Biden. The final nail in the coffin was the prominent black leader who thew his support to Biden and handed him a critical victory in one of the southern states. This always annoyed me deeply, because Bernie was literally out there getting arrested to fight for their civil rights while Biden was on the wrong side of the busing civil rights issue.

Oh well. At least Bernie dragged Biden much farther left than he would have been.

The solution is so simple. Vote overwhelming for progressive, and get rid of the centrists and Republicans.

We’d have free, universal healthcare within a couple of years.

Moderate Democrats: “so you’ll work with us instead, to pass legislation that keeps the lights on, and addresses some of the problems we both agree exist?”

If it was a Republican dressing like this, I think Democrats wouldn’t be so quick to defend or excuse it. They would see it as a sign of disrespect for the institution.

Of course, the difference there is that the Republicans have a history of disrespecting the institution… So that complicates the issue.

On the other hand, we’re not talking about loosening things up a little bit. This isn’t a guy who’s wearing an open collar without a tie, or wearing a t-shirt with a sportcoat. He’s dressing like he’s lounging in a dorm room.

It really does seem deliberately disrespectful.

AOC pulls the party to the left with her rhetoric, and then lends her support to strengthen the party as a whole.

In this political environment, when the opposition is literally a fascist cult, it’s great that she’s being a team player.

Also when she eventually does run for president, she won’t have alienated the party.

She has handled it perfectly.

No matter how centrist or moderate democratic candidate is, the Republicans call them communist, socialist pedophiles.

They’ve painted themselves into a corner. We could nominate a full-on Marxist flag-burner, and they would have nothing left to say about them that they didn’t already say about Obama and Biden.

The much, much, much more concerning aspect of voice cloning technology is that it will be used to scam people on a massive scale.

Imagine you get a call at 4am from a loved one who tells you that they are in an emergency situation and had to borrow a phone to call you. The beg you to venmo some money to a stranger’s account so that they can get their car fixed/get a plane ticket/pay someone back for giving them a lift/etc.

You recognize your loved one’s voice. They can respond to your questions (because chatbot AI). They know details about your life (because social media). It’s the middle of the night. You’re scared and not thinking clearly.

This technology all exists TODAY. In 10 or 20 years it’ll be so terrifyingly sophisticated, even the most wary people will be vulnerable to it.

They aren’t pro-birth. If they were pro-birth they would be for universal healthcare coverage of birth expenses.

They are pro-controlling women’s bodies.

Nuclear power is the ONLY form of clean energy that can be scaled up in time to save us from the worst of climate change.

We’ve had the cure for climate change all along, but fear that we’d do another Chernobyl has scared us away from it.

I’m sure there were a huge swath of people who used Twitter and didn’t care at all about Musk one way or the other.

Then he rebranded and threw his ego and control in everyone’s face. And all the people who like Twitter IN SPITE of Elon were now forced to acknowledge that their Twitter is gone.

Just like over at reddit now, the latest move has alienated the people who really cared about the platform itself. If they rebranded to “Spez’s World”, though, a lot of the people who didn’t give a shit before would suddenly be ready to bail.

I will never, ever understand how the entire Republican party lined up behind this guy.

Before Trump was elected, they were all vocal about how unfit he was. Too stupid. Too rude.

Then he got the nomination, and they all bent the knee, and became so loyal to him that they protected him from facing the consequences of his insurrection, even when he put their lives in danger.

I pay $22 per month for the family plan because I don’t want my kids or my folks to have to be constantly inundated with ads. And I enjoy being and to play free music that is exactly the songs I want.

I was really upset when they raised the price on me, and kicked me off the grandfather plan. But in the end I decided it was still worth it.

But what the real cost to Google is here is that they have evaporated my loyalty and good will. I now see them as a company that will squeeze me when they know they can get away with it, and that my loyalty and being an early adopter means nothing to them.

That will definitely affect every future buying decision I make for future products and services.
