  • while i think it’d be nice if those things weren’t seen it’s not that much, specially if you don’t use any real life connection to your user (you’d need to hide your ip i guess). i mean, you can’t go to jail for any of those things. if you want even more privacy you can stop federating. i wonder how much of this is because of synapse and if the other servers would do better. they come with tradeoffs, though, synapse is the only one that supports self destructing messages for example afaik.

it really bothers me how common imperial speak is that when we actually name things as they should we are the ones being pointed at. calling occupied korea “south korea” should be comparable to calling people slurs. it is literally accepting and endorsing that fascism could and should rule the “lesser people”. hawaii is a colony, puerto rico is a colony, japan is colony, korea is a colony, and so on, and so on, and so on.

this kind of shit ppl say about latam countries is dumb af tbh. yes, all of latam was formed as settler colonies but why on earth would you want to balkanize global south countries? if anything, and it’s what we latinos been wanting to do, we should unite and build la patria grande. in the majority of cases we do not care that there are a ton of different ethnic groups, we rather unite. this is not to say certain groups shouldn’t receive more autonomy or even their own governance over their land, but it would be the equivalent to balkanize china because they have different ethnic groups.
