I have a “quesadilla” but with just refried beans for breakfast nearly every morning. Super easy to make and I can cook it while I prep tea/coffee, and any sides I might be adding like potatoes/toast/etc. I make a large batch of refried beans every few weeks and then freeze them in mason jars, and just always keep one of those in the fridge.

I don’t really see this as pro-USA, it shows that despite massive wealth and the largest per capita healthcare spending in the world, they are barely ahead of the victims of imperialism in terms of health outcomes. They are also such a propagandized population that they suffered from the effects of COVID much more than the rest of the world.
Yes, at this point they had cleared the largest outbreak in Wuhan that lead to ~4000 deaths in 2020 and were still protecting the population through lockdowns, mass testing of entire cities after single digit cases, and had high levels of public masking when not in lockdowns. COVID had not yet evolved into the more virulent Omicron strain, so these measures were even more effective than with the COVID strains we’re seeing today. They literally saved millions of lives, as we can see from the results elsewhere in the world.
Ugh, had to have emergency dental surgery on Wednesday. Dentist’s website showed their separate rooms, HEPA system with lots of ACH, and staff in N95’s.
Got there and they were wearing surgicals, didn’t have N95’s when I asked if they could switch, kept leaving the door open to the busy hallway, and the denstist and hygienist kept whining to eachother about coworkers that kept calling in sick and how it was messing with their staffing.

Yeah the range of quality on Alibaba is definitely quite a bit wider than at your local bike shop, but I’m totally of the belief that the top quality stuff is right there with the western name brands (it is where all their stuff is built too, after all). Thankfully if you dig around there’s some decent online communities where there’s people sharing good quality suppliers.
Fixing a cracked frame with tape is very funny, people definitely underestimate the forces going through a bike frame and how strong that steel/alu/carbon is!
In my experience ordering an eMTB off Alibaba, it’s not really cheaping out it’s cutting out capitalist greediness lol. My bike is every bit as well built as my friends’ Specialized/Trek that I’ve tried (and they agree), but cost less than 1/2. It’s got higher tier Shimano components than theirs, a bigger battery, and parts on the motor/battery system if I ever need to replace anything are way cheaper and actually available.
Also doesn’t help I live in rural Canada so “dealer support” doesn’t really exist anyway, I have to be my own bike mechanic. The nearest Aventon dealer is apparently 600km away haha.

There’s a particularly horrifying story from a local dairy farm where a worker
climbed into some kind of mixer to unclog it, didn’t lock it out, and for some reason it was controllable via WiFi and the boss decided the mixer should be running.
Guy was like 30 with a small kids and his own farm, but had to work at this shitty dairy to supplement his income. Big farm in the area bought out his whole place within a few months of him passing.

Dealing with the same thing up here in Canada with canola farmers. Price peaked at $750/tonne in mid summer before the Chinese tariffs kicked in, it’s down to $600 and still dropping. It’s extremely funny to hear them get mad and demand the liberals drop all tariffs on Chinese EVs, even if they’re only saying it because they’re losing money. (I’ll take a byd though)
Weirdly, have some family friends who were stranded for a couple days due to the AC strike, but they were completely on side of the workers, while they bitched and moaned about the mail strike saying they barely get mail anymore and CanadaPost is a relic. Just pure 
Way way less public support for the postal workers though, at least in my experience. Not sure why, but the air Canada strike was like a 90/10 split in favor of support, Canada Post felt like 10/90.
